Buyer’s remorse?

Monday, November 30, 2009

An article in the Washington Examiner by: Susan Ferrechio, points out how many times the word Secretary (as in Secretary of Health and Human Services) is mentioned in the new health care bill.

A quick search of the Senate health bill will bring up “secretary” 2,500 times.

That’s because Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would be awarded unprecedented new powers under the proposal, including the authority to decide what medical care should be covered by insurers as well as the terms and conditions of coverage and who should receive it.

This isn’t a new concept, I lost count of how many times the words “commissioner” and “health commissioner” were mentioned in the first health care bill.

Ms. Ferrechio seems to be just now putting two and two together to realize that this health care scam is nothing more than the biggest power grab in our nation’s history. To her credit, she quotes Edmund Haislmaier of the Heritage Foundation:

“It’s a huge amount of power being shifted to HHS, and much of it is highly discretionary,” said Edmund Haislmaier, an expert in health care policy and insurance markets at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

Haislmaier said one the greatest powers HHS would gain from the bill is the authority to regulate insurance. States currently hold this power, and under the Senate bill, the federal government would usurp it from them. This could lead to the federal government putting restrictions and changes in place that destabilize the private insurance market by forcing companies to lower premiums and other charges, he said.

“Health and Human Services … doesn’t have any experience with this,” Haislmaier said. “I’m looking at the potential for this whole thing to just blow up on people because they have no idea what they are doing. Who in the federal government regulates insurance today? Nobody.”

I’m sorry, but where the hell has Ms. Ferrechio been? I mean, the dirty deed is almost done, and she’s just now becoming aware of what this is going to do to the quality of our health care system, our economy, and most importantly, our rights?

And from the comments section of the article comes the best evidence of  “buyers remorse” I’ve seen yet.

From BBub:

50% tax, are you kidding me, we’re heading to 80 – 90% tax rate….Bush’s expire – add 3%, over 250K – add 5%, add 5% for the war, move to unlimit soc sec tax (on employer too), good health plan add 20% tax on it, car – tax, gas – tax, heating oil – tax, and energy – add tax, cap and trade – add tax, medicare tax is going up anyways, property taxes going up with house proces falling, national value added tax (VAT) – wanted, states have already increased their taxes or are underway, global warming (hoax tax), don’t have health insurance – added income tax, have health insurance – adding new taxes to the insurance industry, and oh – yeah ACORN has been guaranteed their money from the feds – 6 BILLION, new cable tax, phone tax, auto taxes. But hey this is the Hope and Change I voted for. How about you!

I guess it is still hard for me to believe that people really couldn’t see this coming from the start. Better yet, we all should have seen this before Obama was elected; after all, the evidence of who he is, was right there in front of our collective faces. (pun intended!)

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, Nov 26, 2009

Yes, it is a day to give thanks to God the Creator of the Universe and all that is in it; all that has been given to allow us to live safer, happier, more fulfilled lives. And, we should give thanks that our Creator has given enough Americans the ability to continue to understand what it takes to maintain His gifts of freedom and liberty that we may pass them on to our children and grandchildren.

I am sure that many will be giving thanks to the President and Congress for what they have; but, these are the unfortunate people who have lost sight of where freedom really comes from and the responsibilities that come with it. They are the ones that cannot look into the sky and see the magnificence of the Sun and realize that no man has the awesome power that is God’s. I pity them.

Our problems don’t come exclusively from those who have turned their back on our Creator. They also come from those who have the audacity to tell us they and they alone know what God wants and expects from us. How outrageous it is to attempt to give definition to the one who defined us? But, so many do and they are so fanatical they are willing to kill to force others to believe in their twisted beliefs.

George W. Bush said something, when he was in office, that stuck in my mind. I cannot find the quote, so I’ll paraphrase it. “Man cannot grant mankind rights; only God can do that. Men only take rights away.”

Keep the men and women, who are risking their lives to keep us safe, in your thoughts and prayers this day and every day.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Where is the profit in believing a lie?

Tuesday, Nov 24, 2009

It almost seems as if half of the people in our country are suffering from a mental illness, in which delusional behavior rules the day. It must be what Limbaugh meant when he coined the phrase, “liberalism is a mental disorder.” But it’s still pretty unnerving to except the fact that so many arround us are more willing to believe in a lie rather than an obvious truth.

All of the reputable polls on the Democrat Health Care Bills are showing 51% against, 34% for and 15% undecided; but, no matter where you turn, there is someone telling you how the majority of Americans want government run health care. The really appalling thing about this is that it doesn’t come at you solely from uninformed people, it is even shoved down our throats by people from the press, net work news, cable news, and most of all, our President and Congress men and women who know damned well what the truth is.

This phenomenon was true with the first bail out, the second bail out, cash for clunkers, and etc. Sarah Palin’s popularity is debunked, even in the face of her massive book sales and the tens of thousands of people who turn out at her book signings. She is dismissed as being insignificant on a daily basis.

I can understand (to some extent) the dishonesty from the Democrats and the MSM; but, I’m at a loss to understand what makes an average, working , American deny what is right in front of their face. The only thing that could even come close to explaining this mindset is: These deniers of truth are so immature that they refuse to lose an argument no matter how much evidence there is stacked against them.

Whether this is a psychological disorder or the planned agenda of those on the left (all the way down to the liberal voters), it is a disease that has consumed nearly half of our society; and , I am very afraid for my children and grandchildren.

Now, we have conclusive proof that the eco-terrorists have withheld information that disproves their entire claim of man made global warming. And, the denying has already started… again.

Complaint free day

Saturday, Nov 21, 2009

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo) is proposing a House resolution for a “Complaint free day” on the day before Thanksgiving.” Wow! What a novel idea, especially since the majority of Americans are getting a belly full of un-Constitutional, freedom taking legislation from our (so called) Representatives.

Here is the logic from this thoughtful public servant:

From time to time, we all experience anxiety, frustration, stress, and regret. And often, we respond to these feelings with a criticism or a complaint. Regrettably, complaining keeps people stuck on current problems, inhibiting them from thinking constructively to find solutions. Research has also shown that complaining can be harmful to one’s emotional and physical health; relationships; and can limit professional career success.

I sure hope that the good congressman doesn’t think his idea is an original; because, I’m pretty sure that, even more comprehensive “complaint free days” policies have been implimented in places like: Myanmar, Cuba, N. Korea, and Iran.

I’m also pretty sure that the Taliban and Al Qaeda have been trying to work the kinks out of their own similar “complaint free days” policies for quite some time now.

Seriously Missouri, why wait until 2010. Fire this moron now. You really couldn’t do any worse without a representative than having this idiot working against you.

The darker side of the KSM trial

images

Friday, Nov 20, 2009

The idea put forth by Eric Holder and Barack Obama, to prosecute Khalid Sheik Mohammad (KSM) and his followers, in a criminal court here in the U.S. is nothing short of insane. Not only has KSM admitted to masterminding the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers, he and his followers are enemy combatants. They belong to Al Qaeda, which is an army by their own definition; and, they have publicly proclaimed to be at war with the United States, many times.

Yes, it is an insane notion, or is it? Quite a few people have been looking at the possible motives for doing this and there hasn’t been very many days that RushMark Levin, or Glenn Beck  haven’t brought up the precedence that will be set by this trial. Even Lindsey (let’s create more Democrat voters) Graham got into Eric Holders face, on the matter, this week during Congressional hearings. But, I’m still waiting to hear someone hit on the really dark precedence that can be set by this whole circus and nobody seems to see what I’m seeing.

When Obama and Holder were confronted about this debacle, they both chimed in by saying, “Oh, don’t worry, these guys will be convicted and will receive the death sentence.” When Obama got pressed on this statement, he did do a little back peddling; but none the less, out of his mouth it came.

If Khalid Shiekh Mohammad and his buddies are given all of our Constitutional rights, the case will have to be thrown out from the start because: they were not read there Constitutional right to remain silent when apprehended. But, if Obama and Holder keep their word and these terrorists are convicted and given the death sentence; we will no longer have a court system that goes by: Innocent until proven guilty. We won’t even have one that says: Guilty until proven innocent. We will have set precedence for: Guilty by government proclamation.

I can’t believe that this bunch of radicals are stupid enough to try this with an armed citizenry, but stranger things have happened. What I think is a more likely plan, is to have these terrorist’s cases thrown out due to the lack of Miranda, at which time they will be shipped off to the World Court in The Haag, to be tried for crimes against humanity and Obama can puff out his chest and say to the world, “Look at me. See how fair and just I’ve made America?”

Whether this turns out to be putting Bush, Cheney, and the CIA on trial, (which is a reasonable speculation) or these terrorists actually do get convicted here in the U.S., the outcome will not be good for you and me, Mr. and Mrs. America. And if you can’t see the intentional destruction being done to our great Republic by this group of progressives, socialists, and communists (with Obama as their leader) then odds are, you are one of them.

These people need to be removed from power; and, they need to be removed now.

Quote of the day

Thursday, Nov 19, 2009

I happened to hear this on The Rush Limbaugh Show this morning:

Caller: “I think the American revolution was fought over less tyranny than what we are facing right now.”

Rush’s caller has hit on a truth that should not only scare the Hell out of people; but, more importantly, it should wake them the Hell up.

Best comment of the day

Wednesday, Nov 18,2009

Found this in the comments section of Michelle Malkin’s blog, Calling Dianne DeGette\’s bigotry and ignorance out.

On November 18, 2009 at 10:46 am, Verogolfer said: Separation of church and state? How about a separation of stupidity from politics.

As usual, a great article by Michelle, but this has to be the best comment of the day.

I’m just glad my coffee had cooled down, before it traveled back out through my nose!

Cows

Tuesday, Nov 17, 2009

No real posts today, sorry. Had to receive some cows, down from the high country today and had a lot to do. Recheck the fences, get the stock tanks out and filled, try to find the tank heaters (in my well organized shop), and replace salt and mineral blocks. (Ah, you city dwellers just don’t know what you’re missing.)

They seem to be a group of really well mannered girls and hopefully they will bring their owner some good spring calves, when the snow quits flyin’.

But, I’m a night owl and Farmer Bill will tell ya, that if I have to get up early, I get all kinds of cranky! So, I’m headed to bed early tonight but will be back at it tomorrow. Got some good stuff on Rep. Walt Minick, Dem. Idaho.

Night all.

Amnesty is sneaking back into the Dem’s agenda. But why now?

Monday, Nov 16, 2009

On Nov, 13th, head of Home Land Security Janet Napolitano addressed the issue of immigration reform (amnesty for illegal aliens) at the progressive socialist think tank Center for American Progress. In her speech, she listed all the reasons why immigration reform is so necessary at this time. Among those reasons, was the need to beef up the ability of the government to prevent the flow of illegal immigrants from entering the country; while at the same time, protecting those same illegals from the hazards they face when trying to come into the U.S. illegally.

This resurgence of the amnesty push seems strange; considering, the last time I checked, the flow of illegal aliens was heading out of the country, due to the lack of work and poor economy. Further more, Napolitano’s reasoning that immigration reform is vital to allow law enforcement to deal with this problem, seems pretty disingenuous; considering, she recently told Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to stop enforcing current immigration laws.

OK, most of us know that Napolitano is just another surrogate for Barack Obama; but, why push for amnesty when the illegals that are genuinely here to work, are leaving? Let’s face it, if the workers all go back to Mexico, all that will be left are the criminal gangs like ms-13, and those who find our welfare systems to their liking.

Obviously, the gangs aren’t going to sign up for the amnesty program; so, that only leaves the illegals that don’t really care if they work or not and this will place an even greater burden on states that are already financially struggling. So, what value is there in immigration reform under these conditions?

The answer is simple: more Democrat voters. That’s the only answer that makes any sense. And, with Obama’s and Congress’ approval ratings tanking more every day, they are going to need all the help they can get to stay in power, in 2010 and 2012.

Obama and Pelosi both promised America transparency, and that’s about all they have delivered, so far. I don’t know about you; but, all this transparency just pisses me off and gives me a headache.

The liberal wrecking ball just keeps on pounding (will we ever learn?)

Thursday, Nov 12, 2009

Reuters.com is reporting that the white house is considering using TARP money to pay down some of the 1.2 trillion dollar debt. Yep, we are now on the road to printing money to pay off a national debt that is larger than all of the previous administrations in our history; which is a sure prescription for run-away inflation. This and Congress’ threat to enact another Smoot-Hawly style tax increase, makes it is hard to understand what our current government is trying to accomplish. Of course, if they are intentionally trying to bankrupt our economic system, then it makes perfect sense.

Add to the mix that Obama has already sent up a trial balloon on tariffs, his determination to get a 1.2 to 1.5 tillion dollar health care bill passed, and his open hostility to capitalism, what other conclusion can you come to than the intentional destruction of the United States as we know it.

In my opinion, the Republicans currently in office are only making token arguments against the majorities policies. Any rational person who had the opportunity to voice opposition to this train wreck in Congress, would be doing a Joe Wilson multiplied by a hundred. So what if we got carried out kicking and screaming? At least it would let the left know that it isn’t going to be a cake walk. And maybe some of those so called Blue Dog moderates would bother themselves to take a second look at the whole situation before taking the bribe.

The bottom line here is this: Washington is not listening to us, our Republican politicians are standing around scratching their heads, and I’m beginning to think that you would be lucky to find two people in Washington D.C. who have ever read the Constitution.

Are we sunk? I don’t know. Is 2010 to late? I don’t know that either; but even if we do take the House and Senate back, it will be years before we get this mess straightened out. And after the years of taking back the government, will we let ourselves get back to the complacency that will allow the truly greedy, power hungry socialists, to rise again?
