The will of the people
Monday, Nov 9, 2009
It has become a mantra that Congress is not listening to “the will of the people” or Congress must listen to “the will of the people.” Just depends on which side this noise comes from.
The mandated health care insurance bill has nothing to do with the “will of the people.” We are not a Democracy; we are a representative republic and that makes this issue about constitutionality.
As I have said before, there are but 2 constitutional requirements to becoming a U.S. citizen. They are: 1) To be born in the United States of America or one of its territories, and 2) To become a naturalized citizen through the process of legal immigration.
Mandating proof of health care insurance as a condition of legal citizenship is as un-Constitutional as suspending our election process solely because one party decides they want to stay in power indefinitely. Does this President and Congress know something that we the people don’t?
I have, also, explained how health care or health care insurance cannot be a God given right, and it bears repeating. A God given right obligates or harms no other person except in the defense of life or property. This seems to be a hard concept for the average daily kos reader to grasp. Maybe they think a doctor will be assigned to them every time they decide to go camping. Who knows.
Obama and Congress know very well that passing mandated health care insurance is un-Constitutional; as well as, health care is not a right. (God given or Constitutional) They just don’t care and they are banking on the ignorance of the American people.
Read the Constitution. Inform yourself.
Make forcing our politicians to abide by the Constitution “the will of the people.”
